Most people who call us have spent weeks dreading the conversation. Here is what the consultation actually involves: a plain, honest discussion with a federally licensed professional who is there to help, not to judge.
We listen and review your full picture
You tell us about your debts, income, assets, and situation. There are no right or wrong answers. We ask questions to understand your complete financial picture, not to assess blame.
We explain every option available to you
A Licensed Insolvency Trustee is legally required to explain all options before recommending any particular path. You will hear about consumer proposals, bankruptcy, consolidation, and any informal options that apply to your situation.
We give you an honest recommendation
Based on your full picture, we tell you which option appears to be the best fit and why. We explain what it would cost, how long it would take, and what it would mean for your credit and your life.
You decide. There is no pressure.
The consultation is informational. You are under no obligation to proceed with anything. Many people leave the first meeting, think it over, and call back when they are ready. That is completely fine.
Helpful to bring if you have it
- A rough list of your debts and who you owe them to
- Your approximate monthly take-home income
- An estimate of monthly expenditures: groceries, phone bill, car payment, rent or mortgage payment
- A general sense of assets: home equity, vehicle, savings
- Any recent collection letters or court documents
- Most recent CRA notice of assessment, if you owe the CRA
You do not need precise figures or organised documents. A general picture is enough to start. Your Program Manager will help gather the details that matter.
Most consultations take about 30 – 60 minutes. More complex situations may take longer. There is no rush.
Nothing. Day Group Inc. does not charge for initial consultations. No assessment fee, no retainer, no obligation.
